Water takes the shape of whatever is immediately around it. Water also allows itself to be transformed into a new substance and is essential to life. Humans consist almost entirely of water also. It is a part of us, it is around us and we breathe it in from the air as well. Matter soon dries up in its absence and becomes hard and solid.

  • Can we be fluid in adapting, shifting and transitioning like water does and take on some of its most essential characteristics?
  • Can we be fluid like water and grow in greater alignment with changing circumstances and relationships?
  • Can we be fluid, yet still retain our integrity?

Having a rock, solid foundation in life is important. A great tree anchor itself by spreading its roots and clasping great rocks as its outermost extensions search for sources of water. The tree is immovable, yet fluid in that it is sensitive to move its roots and search out moisture in order to provide constant revitalization to its trunk, branches and leaves.

How do we stay adaptable, fluid and focused on constant revitalization of our mind, body and heart? On what foundations do we actually recharge from? What concrete activities help us be centered again so that we #GoForth with #EpicHearts every day? Could it be possible that most people simply live day in and day out without revitalizing themselves or considering its importance? Can we perform optimally every day if we are not rejuvenated in healthy ways from the inside out?

Taking various moments throughout our day to listen to our inward selves and express that outwardly in healthy ways is vital to preventing physical and emotional breakdown. Like tree roots adapting their physical positions to take in water, we can also hold in our present awareness that adapting, shifting and transitioning our thinking and our actions to be revitalized daily is key to keeping our engines humming. When we take care of ourselves in this way it becomes hard for external forces, situations and circumstances to have a sustained negative impact on us. When we don’t take care of our core the opposite becomes true as well and we are easily swayed by frustrations, anxieties and circumstances.

Families and individuals can put emphasis on thinking about integrating lifestyle activities that tone them from the inside out. Basic activities for families include spending quality time together that is a positive experience for all. Parents can play with their children and let themselves be guided in the play by the little ones. Playing sports informally as a family or as an individual with a group of friends is another one. Couples who dance together tend to keep their energy levels up. Individuals who paint, write poetry, serve their community in a hands-on way also find they get rejuvenated by the process. Thinking of how to improve the lot of others does something special and positive to the one helping in service to others. Reading books, going for walks, spending time in nature, fishing, meditating and praying all have a calming effect on the heart as well. There are more things you can do. These are just a few examples on how we can seek out sources that revitalize us. The parameters need to start with listening to what the heart is saying.
